Send a short message and be specific with what you want to know – ask for details about why you weren’t the right fit this time and if there’s anything that can give you a competitive edge in the future.

When you’re asking for feedback it’s also well worth letting the recruiter or talent manager know that you’re still interested in pursuing opportunities with the company in the future.
